Division of Life Science
The mission of the Division of Life Science is to facilitate the advancement of both research and education in the field of biological sciences. The research covers a broad range of specialized disciplines including cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, structural biology and biochemistry. A stimulating and challenging learning environment is provided for students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels not only in the classroom, but also in the laboratory and in numerous experiential activities that incorporate academic knowledge and real-world experiences. It is also dedicated to the wide dissemination and application of research findings that have tremendous impacts on society in regional and international arenas.

Undergraduate Programs
BSc in Biological Science
A broad foundation in the biological sciences, from molecules and cells to organisms and ecosystems, with extensive laboratory training.

Students study how biomolecules — the building blocks of living organisms — work in cell-free systems (Biochemistry) and within cells (Cell Biology). The early curriculum is broad-based; later years add specialized electives, practical training and research.

Postgraduate Programs
MSc in Biotechnology
A taught postgraduate program providing advanced training in biotechnology for careers in industry, research and entrepreneurship. Offered in full-time and part-time modes.

Basic research training in major areas of life science. Candidates demonstrate knowledge in the discipline and contribute new findings. Normally two years of full-time study, with thesis research, coursework and a successful oral defense.

Cultivates researchers who can independently conduct advanced projects, combining broad knowledge of modern life science with depth in a specialized area. Typically four to five years, with a qualifying examination, original publications and thesis defense.
