IAS / School of Science Joint Lecture — Shaping Tumor Cell Plasticity and Therapy Resistance in Glioblastoma

Tumor heterogeneity fueled by plasticity and genetic diversification of cancer cells is key to therapy failure of malignant glioma. Using spatial analysis of whole glioblastoma sections and single-cell DNA-sequencing of patient-matched primary-recurrent pairs, the Iavarone laboratory established a bottleneck model of evolution and identified a rare persister subclonal state that predicts timing to recurrence.
