Division of Life Science
The mission of the Division of Life Science is to facilitate the advancement of both research and education in the field of biological sciences. The research covers a broad range of specialized disciplines including cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, structural biology and biochemistry. A stimulating and challenging learning environment is provided for students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels not only in the classroom, but also in the laboratory and in numerous experiential activities that incorporate academic knowledge and real-world experiences. It is also dedicated to the wide dissemination and application of research findings that have tremendous impacts on society in regional and international arenas.

Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry has dynamic, friendly and cooperative faculty members active in all areas of chemical research and whose research is internationally recognized. The faculty members of the department have diverse backgrounds, and are at the forefront of their fields of research on an international basis. The undergraduate program covers all aspects of chemistry and related disciplines. The postgraduate programs emphasize training in original research focusing on fundamental, interdisciplinary and applied areas.

Department of Mathematics
Excellence in research and a commitment to deliver effective and quality teaching programs are the two pillars on which the Department of Mathematics is based. The department has two overlapping groups: one interested in pure and applied mathematics, and the other in mathematical sciences and applications. These groups interact and complement each other’s strengths and knowledge.

Department of Physics
The mission of the Department of Physics is captured by the triangle of teaching, research and innovation. Physics is the science that deals at the most fundamental level with matter and energy, their interactions, and their transformation. It presents major challenges to the human mind and provides the foundation for engineering and other sciences. By pursuing research at the frontier of knowledge and innovation at the cutting edge of technology, it is the ultimate purpose of the physics faculty to preserve and nurture a sense of wonder about the natural world, and to impart it to the students as a driving motivation for learning.

Department of Ocean Science
The Department of Ocean Science aims to lead in understanding ocean science and technology, from foundation knowledge to applications in marine conservation, global climate change, management of marine resources, socio-economy and sustainable development. Established under the School of Science in 2018, it plays a significant role in ocean science research and education at local, regional and international levels. The faculty is committed to excellence in both research and education, and academic programs are extensive and growing.
